Equal Paternity Leave
Equal Paternity Leave
Like most organisations across our sector, we support efforts to equalize parental leave rights between mothers and fathers, with a statutory period of six weeks paternity leave paid at 90% of regular pay for all full time employees.
Encouraging, enabling and supporting fathers to stay at home to share parenting of new born babies, or to take a period of parental leave at some point within the first year after birth, has huge benefits for father, mother and baby alike.
We also support campaigns to ensure that all workplaces and employers not only provide equal parental rights and family-friendly policies to men and women alike, but nurture a culture of open, proud parenting as part of a healthy work-life balance.
We believe securing equal, shared parenting and equal parental leave rights and take-up are essential to addressing many other issues which concern us and our colleagues across both the men’s and women’s sectors. This includes both fathers’ and mothers’ mental health, ending all gender pay gaps and glass ceilings, and should the worst come to the worst, securing amiable shared parenting arrangements following family breakdown or separation.
